EPFO Calculator
Estimate your EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) corpus at retirement based on your contributions and expected growth.
About the EPF Calculator
The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a mandatory retirement savings scheme for salaried employees in India, managed by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). It's a crucial component of financial planning for retirement. This calculator helps you project your total EPF corpus when you retire.
How EPF Contributions Work
Your EPF account grows through monthly contributions from both you (the employee) and your employer, plus annual interest credited by the EPFO.
- Employee's Contribution: 12% of your Basic Salary + Dearness Allowance (DA) is deducted from your salary and deposited into your EPF account.
- Employer's Contribution: Your employer also contributes 12% of your Basic + DA. However, this amount is split:
- 8.33% goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), capped at a maximum of ₹1,250 per month.
- The remaining 3.67% (or more, if your salary is above the EPS cap) goes directly into your EPF account.
Our calculator simplifies this by projecting the growth of the EPF component, which is the amount you can withdraw as a lump sum at retirement.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the current EPF interest rate?
The EPFO's Central Board of Trustees sets the interest rate for each financial year. For the financial year 2023-24, the declared interest rate is 8.25%. Our calculator is pre-filled with this rate, but you can adjust it to test different scenarios.
Can I withdraw my EPF amount before retirement?
Yes, partial withdrawals from an EPF account are allowed for specific purposes like home purchase or construction, medical emergencies, marriage, or education, subject to certain conditions and service period requirements.
What is a UAN?
The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit number allotted by the EPFO to every member. It acts as a portable, permanent ID across different employers, allowing you to manage all your EPF accounts under one umbrella.
